The vineyard is located on the beautiful Bantham Estate in South Devon. Their journey started a few years ago when they were researching the feasibility of planting vines on some of our south-facing fields near the Avon Estuary and after careful assessment, and with the help and advice from vinescapes, just over 25,000 vines were planted in May 2021 across two different sites: Lower Aunemouth and West Buckland including some Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir Precoce. Leading the team is Vineyard Manager Manon Fosburgh, who is receiving training and guidance from Mark Sharman, previously Managing Director of Sharpham Wines, as well as doing a bachelor degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the French University of Dijon. They are also fortunate to have the support of our incredible Bantham Team and local workers during busy times, such as pruning, shoot selection, bud rubbing, vine tucking, trimming… Conservation is a top priority, Bantham Estate is located in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is under a combination of demanding stewardship schemes. They are committed to upholding the highest environmental principles in all of their activities, within the estate and the vineyard, in order to protect and enhance the beautiful surrounding.
