After an early exposure to working with wine on the well-trodden path of Oddbins stints during university holidays, I had a misspent foray into the world of finance. However, the wine industry lured me back and in 2012 I started working for fine wine importer, Louis Latour Agencies who has a fantastic portfolio of family-owned wineries. The decision for the radical career shift was cemented on my first day when I was presented with a line-up of the new releases of Giacosa, although I felt gloriously out of my depth when called upon first by Bruna Giacosa to give my opinion.
Since then, I have been lucky enough to work with some of the greatest and most exciting producers from the world’s leading wine regions and forged incredible relationships with talented chefs and sommeliers working at the finest restaurants and 5 star hotels in London. Having spent several years selling Gosset - Champagne’s oldest wine house, the chance to join Roebuck Estates last year, who are a much younger West Sussex sparkling wine producer, was incredibly exciting and an opportunity not to be missed.
Working with an ambitious team who are not only driven by quality, but also acutely aware of the responsibility of the sustainable stewardship of our vineyards is highly rewarding. And it is always an absolute joy to introduce people to our range and help drive greater awareness of English sparkling wines which have their own unique character and quality and can undoubtedly compete with the very best in the world.
